Who are we?
Electronic-Greetings.com is a free service designed, coded and
owned by the author of Radiocards.Net.
Preamble (Rant)
Electronic-greetings.com has not wasted money on any "Trust.E" Privacy statement.
This is an E.U. website, you are protected by law, and that's far better. We have seen Trust.E marks all over,
and we often find them on sites that have had public relations nightmares related to privacy in the past.
Trust.E may be a good thing themselves, but they are purely a product of a total failure
of government to deal with protecting your privacy. Big corporations like programs such as Trust.E as it provides
an excuse for government inaction.
Don't support these so called privacy schemes and industry self-regulation. Some fancy (and
often expensive) logo on a web site can't protect you can it? Logo's are just cute graphics. Trust.E won't
jail an affiliate if they are caught breaching your privacy. A Government that protects it's citizens can
do just that (obviously this excludes the current US Government).
The EuroCAUCE logo & link above doesn't mean they endorse us or anyone else for that
matter, it means we endorse them, and happen to think that they are fighting the good fight. They didn't pay
us to put it there, we didn't pay them for permission to put it there, Go and check them out when you're finished
here.
Section 1: E.U. & Irish Data Protection Rules
I - You are protected by the worlds toughest privacy laws.
Electronic-Greetings.com/Radiocards.Net is an Irish website, thus it is subject to European
Union Data Protection Laws, which are some of the most stringent consumer protection laws on earth. It makes
it an offense for this website to share your information with anyone without your prior consent. However these
laws do require us to cooperate with law enforcement authorities, this is the only exception that I am aware
of. We fully support these laws and your privacy.
Section 2: Using this site and system to send and/or receive cards.
- I - Email Addresses.
No email addresses are stored in any way whatsoever unless you actually ask to be our
site updates list or our opt-in lists (see later sections). Otherwise, we maintain no logs of who sent what
where. As we don't record email addresses in such a manner, we can't share them. Electronic-Greetings.com/Radiocards.Net
is hostile to spam and spammers. When the sender enters the two required addresses to send a card, they
are used as follows: A notification is sent to the recipient's email address telling him or her that an
electronic postcard has been created for him or her, On the card itself the sender's email address is linked
to their name so the recipient can simply click on the senders name to reply to them if they wish.
- II - Card's Privacy.
The cards sent are private, and we treat it as a private communication. Cards are given
a unique complicated secret URL, and are not linked anywhere, nor is it possible to search the site for
the secret URL, due to the complexity of the URL, there is no realistic chance that someone could "guess"
the URL and read a private card. The email sent to the card's recipient automatically, contains the secret
URL to collect the card, this is the only place where the URL is recorded. The only people who should see
the card are the sender and the recipient. The sender is given the URL of the card at the end of the card
creation process. After a period of time, currently 10 days, the card is automatically deleted by our software.
At no stage do the administrators of Electronic-Greetings.com/Radiocards.Net see an actual card unless either
the sender or recipient specifically ask us to.
- III - Abuse of the System.
As we log no details of the card we have taken the following approach to handling incidents
of abuse. On the notification email sent to the recipient, at the bottom of it, we include the IP address
of the sender and their browser type and also an email address to send this email to if the recipient has
received an abuse card, or spam card. In the event of such an instance, we ask the recipient to forward
the notification email to us at the addresses specified on the card, where we will deal with the problem
ASAP. If you do forward the notification email, we will see the card also, so if it contains private information
you do not wish us to see, don't send us your notification email. We do use other anti-abuse systems which
we will not reveal publicly, however none of these have any effect on your privacy.
- IV - Traffic analysis.
Our server, like all others, logs statistics relating to traffic levels. This information
reveals no individual identities and is only used in aggregate. For example to let me say that 17% of users
appear to be from computers in Dublin, Ireland etc..
IF THIS POLICY EVER CHANGES: Electronic-Greetings.com/Radiocards.net
will cease to do business with Postmasterdirect.
Additionally we have a contractual guarentee from them that
you will be given the chance to remove yourself from any list
before
the policy changes.
Section 3: Websites using this service
We only use your contact information to facilitate running this free service, we will never give
sell your email address to any 3rd parties for any reason. You will occasionally receive status emails about
changes in this service.
Section 4: Our philosophy.
- I - Your privacy will be protected.
At Electronic-Greetings.com/Radiocards.Net, we respect your right to privacy. Your name, email address,
zipcode and any other identifying information that you give us will not be revealed to any of our advertisers
except in aggregate (like us saying 15% of our users are in zipcode 90210 (I hope not)). Should we ever
change our policy, you will be given the chance to remove yourself from our lists before your information
is disclosed.
- II - You will not be spammed.
We hate spamming, and we know that you do, too. When/if you sign up for any of our newsletters, you will
receive email messages only about those topical categories that you have selected. Before any mailing goes
out, our staff personally screens each message to make sure that it's relevant to the list's topic.
- III - You don't have to subscribe to anything to use this service.
Obviously we'd like you to, but that's entirely up to you, we are not interested in forcing,
or tricking people into signing up for things, firstly that's wrong, and secondly what use is a newsletter
with unwilling subscribers?
